At East London Soccer Club (ELSC), player safety is our top priority. We are committed to maintaining a safe playing environment by following Ontarioโs Rowanโs Law and Canada Soccerโs Guide to Safety. All athletes, coaches, and families must understand and adhere to proper concussion identification and management procedures.
Our Commitment
-
Zero-tolerance for dangerous play: ELSC strictly prohibits reckless behavior that increases the risk of head injury or concussion.
-
Annual acknowledgment: All athletes (or parents/guardians of players under 18), coaches, and team personnel must review and sign the Concussion Code of Conduct each season.
-
Education first: Everyone involved in our club is encouraged to review Ontarioโs Concussion Awareness Resources to understand symptoms, risks, and proper response steps.
Concussion Management Protocol
-
Immediate removal: If a player shows signs of a concussion or has sustained a head injury, they must be removed from play immediately.
-
No same-day return: Players suspected of having a concussion are not permitted to return to play on the same day, regardless of how they feel.
-
Medical clearance required: Players must be evaluated by a licensed healthcare professional and cleared before returning to practices or games.
-
Gradual return-to-play: ELSC supports a step-by-step return-to-play protocol to ensure the athlete is fully recovered before resuming full participation.
